The fall season at The Victorian of Cambridge is such a fun time of year to visit. When our kids were small, we enjoyed the farm tour at Hinchley’s Dairy Farm Tours where you can take a free tractor ride to the pumpkin field to pick your free pumpkin. Another favorite was the Pumpkin Train at Little Amerricka just a quick drive away in Marshall. Now, that the kids are grown, we love the Earth Wood & Fire Art Tour, driving down beautiful country roads visiting our artist friends.
With your home base at The Victorian, you can bring the whole family and still have room for friends. Book the whole house or reserve an individual apartment for a smaller group or a fabulously romantic weekend. You’re the boss!
When you walk into the Victorian, you’ll love the gorgeous amenities including, high-end leather furniture, top-of the-line bedding, warm fireplaces and hand-scraped teak hardwood floors. Many of our guests comment on how comfortable the beds and pillows are and ask where we purchased them so they can get them for home. Both apartments have free wi-fi, cable TV and beautifully stocked kitchens. Prefer to eat out? Walk down to our local restaurants and taverns and let someone else do the cooking or stop in at one of our local wineries or breweries!
Free pumpkins? Yup! Only in Cambridge. Visit Hinchley’s Dairy Farm Tours and get a glimpse into the life of a Wisconsin dairy farm. Your tour will be usually led by Tina Hinchley herself where you’ll get an up-close and personal visit with the cows. Then take the tractor hayride into the pumpkin field where you’ll unload to look for your perfect pumpkin. Kids get a free one!
There are two other activity farms near Cambridge (a 10 minute drive away) where the family will have a ball! Schuster’s Farm just received an honor of being the #1 Pumpkin Patch in WI according to Tripping.com . They have a great corn maze and a haunted forest, bonfires, pumpkin cannons and so much more.
Busy Barns Adventure Farm is another favorite of ours. Our kids loved climbing into the corn kernel pit (don’t knock it ’til you try it!) and running around the farm with play areas and farm animals. They’ve added so many activities since our kids were little! You’ll know you’re there when you see the decorated hay bales guiding you which are changed up with each season.
Little Amerrika is a wonderful amusement park located in Marshall, WI which is just a short 30 minute drive from The Victorian. After the summer season, they run a fun Pumpkin Train where you’ll ride through a wonderful trail full of real live grazing animals and then you get to pick your perfect pumpkin. They’ll still have their Meteor Wooden roller coaster riding then as well.
In October, we love to hit the road and take the Earth Wood & Fire Artists Tour. It’s a self-guided tour visiting art studios throughout the Cambridge and Jefferson County areas. Take a ride down winding country roads, drop in for lunch at one of the friendly restaurants along the way, then continue your afternoon tour. It’s so fun chatting up the artists hearing the stories behind their work and discovering the inspiration for the artists’ creations. The abundant beauty is hard to describe. You have to experience it yourself!
Kick off the Earth Wood & Fire weekend with Girls Night Out in Cambridge! You have to get your tickets early, though, because they sell out quickly! Here’s a taste of the hilarity from 2015’s photo booth at GNO!
Just give us a ring to book your fall weekend in the country at The Victorian of Cambridge! You’ll be glad you did…
