We’ve come a long way, baby!

A time for reflection…

I can’t believe it’s been seven years since we opened The Victorian of Cambridge. When we purchased the gorgeous building in 2009, I have to admit, after the affects of the Great Recession that hit Cambridge hard, I was having second thoughts. Had we made the right decision to invest in this small town that seemed to be going downhill fast?

My husband, Joe, is the entrepreneur in the family and had no second thoughts on the matter.  He had a clear vision of what The Victorian could be and believed that Cambridge would bounce back.  It’s everlasting charm, beautiful downtown buildings, friendly, quirky and artistic people and close proximity to Madison gives it the bones that every great downtown could ever dream of.  Full steam ahead, we converted the drab and outdated building into a fabulous vacation home which can accommodate up to 13 guests.

I’m so thankful we pushed forward and put our vision into action and invested the hard work and money into renovating The Victorian into the gorgeous property we have now.  I am amazed at its beauty each time I enter its doors.   Is this really ours?  I wish we could live here :).  It makes me proud that we’ve been able to host families from as far away as an island off of Mategascar to our local families wishing to provide luxurious accommodations to their family and friends.

I am so proud of how far Cambridge has come since those bleak days. New downtown restaurants, new shops, a winery and distillery, the Matt Kenseth museum moving downtown and so much more! I’m thankful for the volunteers of our community groups continuing the hard work of promoting and hosting events and welcoming guests to town. We love volunteering and know how much time and energy is put into every event and fundraising effort.   Although it is hard work, I have to admit, it is fun, I’ve learned so much and have met so many wonderful friends.  Check out the upcoming events in Cambridge.

I’m thankful for our wonderful guests that have passed through the doors of The Victorian, enjoying their time in Cambridge, referring friends and giving positive feedback.    Check out some of the reviews posted to VRBO.

With our oldest starting his freshman year at the University of WI, Madison, we are happy to offer lovely lodging for the Badger families searching for a better option than a cramped hotel room.  College kids yearn for a home-cooked meal that families can offer with our fully stocked kitchen and dining areas.   Families can really spread out and relax in a beautifully comfortable space visiting, chatting and laughing in front of the warmth of a fireplace.  The Victorian is their home away from home!

We hosted our first wedding in 2016.  What a gorgeous event!  The bride and groom were so creative making their special day all their own.  With the backdrop of a beautiful property, they added their personal touches which made it so special for everyone.  We’d love to host your next event.  Here’s a link to our events page.

We look forward to 2017 and all the fun of hearing from old friends who make their reservations year after year.  Nothing makes me happier than hearing how much our guests loved their stay.

We are taking reservations for 2017!  Give us a call or email with any questions.

Happy holidays to you all!
